A customs card is a plastic microchip payment card for POS-terminals and it can be used to pay all types of customs charges throughout the territory of Russia instead of making pre-payments to the Customs or paying in cash at the Customs.
Classifications of different custom’s card types:
- Entity card; is issued for customers who intend to pay customs charges of only one entity. The entity’s name is indicated on the card.
- Card for third party payment charges; allows paying customs duties for other entities as well as the entity indicated on the card. Issued usually for the use of custom brokers.
It is possible to issue multiple main and supplementary cards to use the same bank account with specified expenditure limit.
Benefits of the customs card:
- Accuracy: it can by difficult to estimate the exact amount of customs duties before declaring them at the Customs – the Client might have paid too much or not enough funds to the Customs if duties are paid with advance payments but with customs card duties are always paid accurately when declaring the goods at the Customs.
- Easy: account replenishment and payments processing - all can be done electronically, without paper documents and visits to the bank.
- On-line, anywhere and anytime: all types of customs payments can be made at any customs location across Russia 24 h a day. The goods are free to go as soon as authorization request is approved via an electronic terminal in an on-line mode. Actual payment processing will be performed automatically, and will not require any effort from customer.
- Efficient: The customs clearing process takes less time with the card usage.
- Better control: get an e-mail or SMS immediately after a transaction is done. Card account statement will contain detailed information on payments done. Use card limits to effectively manage spending authority.
- Security: only client's authorized representative can use the card. Card activity is limited to customs payment - no other payments are allowed with the card.
